About The Author

In the world of children’s literature, female authors have always played a crucial role, bringing to life stories that inspire, educate, and entertain children and young adults. Despite this, throughout history, many female authors have been silenced or minimized. Fortunately, today, there are women who top bestseller lists and captivate millions of readers worldwide.

Josephine Lancaster has revolutionised contemporary children’s literature with her illustrated book series. Her mission is to bring the lives of real and extraordinary people closer to children through biographies told with tenderness, clarity, and feeling. Each book is vibrantly illustrated and stands out for its meticulous production, with a hardback, manageable format, and simple texts that connect with children without sacrificing depth. The approach is both educational and emotional, with a clear message: we can all dream big.

A Life Less Ordinary

Josephine Lancaster, born in Headington, Oxford, left school at fifteen and worked in both a solicitor’s office and a primary school. A keen dancer in her youth, she once missed the opportunity to see The Beatles perform. After spending time in Western Australia, she returned to Britain, where she realised her ambition of writing books for young children. Her interest in history, enterprise, and equality inspired her to create a collection that combines rigour, sensitivity, and beauty.

Josephine is an author who can effortlessly make children laugh, think, and read. These books, designed for readers beginning to read independently, combine simple narratives, plenty of humour, and values such as friendship, empathy, and curiosity.

Revolutionising Storytime: The Lancaster Touch

A writer, storyteller, and educator, her work stands out for its fresh, accessible, and amusing style, which allows her to connect directly with children and their families, too!

Her legacy is clear: to create books that cultivate admiration, self-esteem, and curiosity about the world.
